When you create a proper foundation for your New Year fitness goals, nothing can stop you from succeeding!

Now, we all know what the hard part is in the New Years resolution and that is–actually sticking to your goals. There are ways to do it if you’re clever and the steps to it is all common sense and some a little unlikely. You just have to have the willpower to execute all your New Year Fitness Goals!

Most of the way to make your resolutions a success is to make them realistic and not cookie-cutter.

For example, most people decide they are gonna get up at 5 in the morning to go to the gym before work when they aren’t morning people at all. So, if you bend to join a gym, then make sure you get to bed earlier! You could also go at a time that you are going to actually go and not blow it off. We say it like it is here and we know human nature dictates that we are not going to stick something out that is within a time that is not us. If you aren’t a morning person now–you won’t be then.

Don’t start an activity that isn’t you either! If you aren’t a runner–why would you promise yourself that you are going to start now? Look, what happens to people at the beginning of every new year is that they begin these new hobbies–yet–they are the same people. To stick to New Year fitness goals, you need to stick to a program that emulates you.

For example, if you are a person who likes the outdoors but you aren’t in the shape to run–then walk or join a hiking club. If you are a person who has a pool right there at the house–then swim a few laps each day. You get what we’re saying? It’s not all about the activity itself–its all about the activity suiting who you are. If it does–you are more likely to stick to it.

It’s just like having a job–you have a job or a career. If you love what you do–it’s not like work and you are more attached to it and more likely to excel. But, if it’s not what you want to do–then its more like work.

Once you’ve figured out what the activity will be, you can then proceed to the second and last trick to sticking with your resolutions–that is pace yourself. If you set grandiose New Year fitness goals you simply have less than half the chance of sticking to them.
