The Bontril diet pill is a brand name prescription diet drug that can help you to lose weight more quickly than you would without it.  In its generic form, it is called phendimetrazine, which is a sympathomimetic amine similar to phentermine.  What that means is that it has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system, which in turn increases blood pressure and heart rate to a point that the appetite is decreased. This helps patients taking this drug to eat less and therefore consume fewer calories each day, leading to weight loss.

Bontril diet pills are designed to be used by individuals who are obese and who wish to prevent certain weight-related health conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes.  This drug is only prescribed for a few weeks at a time while the proper lifestyle habits are learned and adopted so that they may be continued beyond its use. Longer use of Bontril is not recommended because its effectiveness decreases and there is a risk of addiction.

Lose Weight Fast with Phenteramin and Phentramin-d – The Top-Rated Bontril Diet Pills Replacements

Like other prescription diet pills, Bontril diet pills are very effective in helping heavily overweight people lose weight, however they are not a good choice for everyone. Typically, doctors will only prescribe bontril to patients who are considered obese and have a BMI (body mass index) greater than 30. During the use of Bontril, patients are monitored closely by their doctors for signs of side effects that can be potentially harmful.

There are many people who do not meet the criteria for taking Bontril. In many cases, they are not considered obese even though they may have large amounts of weight to lose. Due to this, many people have begun to seek out a replacement for Bontril diet pills that can be purchased without a prescription – and their search has ended successfully with Phenteramin and Phentramin-d.

Phenteramin and Phentramin-d contain chemically-engineered formulas that result in powerful appetite suppression, 24/7 fat burning and energy enhancement. These non-prescription diet pills provide similar weight loss results to Bontril diet pills, but without the need for a prescription, with fewer side effects and longer effectiveness. Most former Bontril users agree that Phenteramin and Phentramin-d are as good, if not better, than prescription weight loss medications.

How should Bontril be taken?

When you have been prescribed Bontril, make sure that you discuss its use carefully with your doctor so that you know how to take it safely and effectively. If you are uncertain of the directions that you have been provided, or if any questions arise at any time during the use of the drug, it is important that you obtain clarification from your doctor or pharmacist.

Usually, Bontrol is taken with a full eight ounce glass of water.  It is a daily medication in the form of a sustained-release formula.  However, if you are prescribed the immediate-release formula, then you will need to take it two or three times per day on an empty stomach, ahead of your meals.

That said, Bontril should not be taken too close to bedtime, as insomnia may result.  In order to prevent this side effect, try not to take this diet pill any later in the day than 6pm.

If you have been prescribed the daily sustained-release formula pills, make sure that you do not open, chew, or crush them, as this can lead all of the medication to be absorbed at once, instead of releasing slowly throughout the day.  This amount of the drug all at once can be harmful, so it is important to swallow the pills whole.

What else should you know about Bontril?

It’s important to recognize that because Bontril is a prescription drug, its use comes with the risk of certain side effects.  Before you drive, operate heavy machinery, or take part in any other activity that requires you to be mentally and physically responsive, you need to understand your reactions to the drug.  This is because some of the known side effects that can occur include restlessness, blurred vision, and dizziness.  Moreover, due to the nature of the stimulant in the drug, even if you are extremely tired, the symptoms can be masked.  Get to know the side effects that you may experience before taking part in hazardous activities.

Furthermore, you should know that Bontril is a habit forming drug, which can lead you to become physically or psychologically dependent.  Therefore, it should not be used in any way except according to the doctor’s directions, and it should not be suddenly halted, or you will risk unpleasant side effects.  Your doctor will advise you about gradually decreasing your dose to avoid those withdrawal symptoms.

 Who should not take Bontril?

Bontril will help many people to lose weight and overcome their obesity.  However, it is not appropriate for everyone.  Let your doctor know if you have:

  • High blood pressure
  • Heart disease
  • Glaucoma
  • Hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis)
  • Taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors within the last past two weeks
  • An anxiety disorder
  • Thyroid problems
  • A seizure disorder such as epilepsy
  • A history of alcohol or drug abuse
  • Diabetes

Though some of these conditions will mean that you will need an alternative to Bontril, others will simply require a dosage adjustment and special monitoring as you continue to lose weight with its assistance.

What side effects could you experience from using Bontril?

Though there are many potential side effects ranging from mild to severe, if you experience the following serious side effects while you use Bontril, make sure that you see emergency medical assistance immediately:

  • Hallucinations
  • Confusion
  • Abnormal behavior
  • Very high blood pressure (which can include symptoms such as anxiety, blurred vision, severe headache, and dizziness)
  • Allergic reaction

If you experience any of the following less serious side effects, continue using Bontril as prescribed, but contact your doctor for further instructions:

  • Anxiety or nervousness
  • Insomnia
  • Trembling or restlessness
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • A bad taste in the mouth
  • Dry mouth
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Changes in libido such as impotence

Bontril has always worked very well for me. I managed to go from a size 12 to a size 6 after losing 40 pounds on Bontril. The only problem is that ordering it online is next to impossible. You have to go through your personal doctor, what a pain. You can thank the FDA for that one.

I didn’t really like Bontril. Its effects wore off quickly and I didn’t lose as much weight as I thought I would.

I find that if you don’t watch what you eat and exercise then you won’t lose very much weight, if any, even if you do take diet pills. I lost 35 lbs by taking Bontril and sticking to the South Beach Diet and getting exercise.

Bontril really helped curb my hunger. My appetite was so low that I had to make sure to eat enough. This is a great drug for losing weight.

I was in the best shape of my life while taking bontril. The only thing is that it loses it’s potency. Eventually I stopped taking it but I really missed the energy it gave me. Because I didn’t have the energy to work out any more I gained the weight back. Really make sure you stick with your program when you get off the pills or you will gain it back.

Bontril works well for me but I do agree with several of the other comments posted. You must learn to watch what you eat with it and you MUST maintain some sort of exercise program to actually maintain the weight loss. Even if it is just a 30 minute walk a few days a week it will help to keep the weight down. I does curb my appetite to the point where I often forget to eat but I’m training myself to stick with at least 6 small meals or healthy snacks a day to make sure that I am getting the nutrients that I need daily. I have also found that it makes me thirsty for plenty of water and that is actually a good thing as well. Bontril is designed to help you form new, healthier habits but you must stick with them or the weight will come back on quickly.
