Xenical is a prescription brand name weight loss drug that also goes by the generic name of orlistat. This medication works by blocking a certain amount of the fat that you consume in your food so that it will not be absorbed into your body, but will instead pass through for elimination with the rest of your food waste. This is not meant for the casual dieter, but is instead designed to be an obesity treatment for individuals who need help losing weight in order to decrease their risk of conditions such as high cholesterol, high triglycerides, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

Xenical Results

Xenical is called a “fat-blocker” because it works in the intestines to prevent about 30 percent of fat eaten in food from being absorbed. This fat is eliminated in bowel movements. Xenical diet pills produce moderate weight loss. Studies show that people using the drug have an average weight loss of 12 pounds after six months, and 13 pounds after one year of use. People who use Xenical diet pills along with a low-calorie diet regain less weight after stopping this drug than individuals who have not taken them.

Who Is Xenical Best For?

Though Xenical diet pills can be extremely effective to help obese individuals to reduce their weight to a healthier level, they are not meant for everyone. There are some people who should not use this drug. They include people with an underactive thyroid, those with diabetes (either type 1 or type 2), liver disease, an eating disorder, a history of pancreas or gallstones, or if other prescription or nonprescription weight loss products are already being taken.

Xenical is also not designed for anyone younger than 18 years of age. It should be used only by the individual to whom it was described and should be stored in a place where it will not be accessed by anyone else. This is especially true when there is an individual with a history of an eating disorder living in the same home.

Recommended Xenical Weight Loss Program

When you are prescribed Xenical diet pills, you will also receive a recommendation for a complete program of daily exercise and proper health low calorie and low fat food consumption. This is carefully designed for weight control that will work with the effects of the drug. It is important to realize that this fat blocker is not a pass to eat as many fatty foods as you want. Doing so could result in very unpleasant side effects when the fat passes undigested through the body, including gas, bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, oily stool, and others.

Daily food recommendations and balances should be followed very carefully. They will usually require you to eat a certain ratio of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, to keep the drug working at its best and avoid side effects.

This medication can block the absorption of vitamins A, D, E, and K and beta-carotene. So if you take Xenical, you should also take a multivitamin supplement with these nutrients in it every day.

Xenical Precautions

Xenical diet pills should be carefully taken according to the directions on the prescription label. This usually involves taking the pill with a full glass of water with a meal or up to 1 hour following a meal that contains fat. It is taken three times per day.

Hello, I have been using xenical w/o a low calorie diet. I love it, especially when you poop you can see lots of oil out of your body. Kind of like non surgical liposuction haha! I love it so far! Even if I have eaten out at a party or wedding I feel at ease that fat leaves my body in front of my own eyes. Yea, you do use washroom often but it’s not so bad at all. I would rate it 5 stars ***** 🙂

Xenical should be avoided. The side-effects are unbelievably bad. You pretty much can’t control your bowel movements. I stopped taking it only after a week because it was so bad.
